Greater Manchester Consultation

Greater Manchester currently produces some 1.3 million tonnes of municipal wastes a year. The new PFI Waste Management Contract, awarded to Viridor Laing in April 2009, will help to move Greater Manchester towards a more sustainable system with higher levels of recycling and recovery of household waste.

Since 2007, Viridor Laing, as the preferred candidate, has been progressing planning applications for a range of new facilities to improve recycling rates across the region. As part of this, we undertook a wide ranging public consultation on each of the proposals. This website includes the information made available to support each application and acts as an information resource on the proposed facilities.

We hope you find this information useful. Should you have further questions, please do call our information line on 0845 094 5011
